Four words … Dangerous, Courageous, Irish, and Dogma. There are other words, but a long time ago I decided that these four words summed up what it meant to be Irish. We’re Dangerous. Just ask the British who crossed us. We were a force that rose up after the Easter Rising of 1916, and ended with the signing the Anglo-Irish Treaty, of 1921. We’re Courageous … just ask the millions who ventured away from their homes to forge out a new life in American, Canada, Australia, and places around the world. Irish is a given, but Dogma … Dogma is the most important word to the Irishman. Dogma, or his personal belief, that he is worthy of a better life, family, good friends, and above all independence. For hundreds of years they had their language stolen from them, their lands seized, and their religion belittled, but they maintained and they prospered. These shirts … they’re just shirts, but these four words mean so much more.
